Alan Wier was V.P. Application Strategy in the E-Retail Group at Retail Planning Associates in Columbus OH. He developed interactive strategy, information architecture, design and customer experience for both in-store interactive and web based electronic retail. These “click” initiatives have been closely synchronized with the “brick” channels for clients such as: Microsoft, Chrysler Modus, Kodak, Bell Mobility, AutoNation, and adidas.

AutoNation wanted a web based vehicle buying tool oriented to consumer shopping behavior. Budget $300K. Mr. Wier assumed project management, as well as application strategist/designer responsibilities for a 25 person strategy/design/development team. The project was to conceive, design and then implement the AutoNation USA website (December 1997 - August 1998). AutoNation sold $1 billion worth of vehicles over the Internet during 1999.
