Currently, Alan Wier is a Real Estate Consultant and Property Manager. He has run his own company, WierDesign, Inc and managed over 120 investment properties over the last five years
From 2000 to 2001, he was with Scient, eBusiness system innovators, as a Customer
Experience Architect / Information Architect, working from their Chicago office.
He developed strategy, information architecture, customer experience and design
for a variety of enterprise clients including: Qwest Communications, CivicServices,
Mergence, and Ingersoll Rand.
Prior to Scient, Alan Wier was V.P. Application Strategy in the E-Retail Group
at Retail Planning Associates in Columbus OH. He developed interactive strategy,
information architecture, design and customer experience for both in-store
interactive and web based electronic retail. These “click” initiatives have
been closely synchronized with the “brick” channels for clients such as: Microsoft,
Chrysler Modus, Kodak, Bell Mobility, AutoNation, and adidas.
Before joining RPA, in 1995, Alan Wier ran his own design business and was a Design Educator for 16 years at Purdue University and The Ohio State University. He developed instructional tools and taught both undergraduate and graduate level students in a wide variety of design disciplines including: Product Design, Interior Space Design, Design Strategy, Interface Design, 3D Computer Visualization, and Lighting Design.
Prior to his teaching career he worked two years for Project Control, Inc,
a construction and project management firm in Chicago.
Alan Wier is a graduate from the University of Illinois, Urbana–Champaign
with a Masters in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Architecture.
